Our Method
Parish system:
Love’s Door operates like a parish system: we have a ministry base in an area of great need, then draw a circle of around that point that the long term team are willing to commit to care for and believe God for. Currently we are starting a home base in Singanga Village, Zambia, about 35 Km from Livingstone. The area of committed influence is a 50 km radius around the base.
Short-term/long-term:
We work with a short-term / long-term approach: Teams come and break ground in a village, sharing the gospel, doing kids camps, doing work projects, etc. Then the long-termers consolidate the fruit. We also rely on 6 month and one year interns to bring a much needed labor force to the many tasks in the villages.
These young people from the West are a part of our ministry as well – mentoring them with Kingdom Values, empowering them with tools for ministry and shooting them off to find their dreams around the globe.
Simple, self-propagating churches:
Our first goal is to prepare the way with the good news of the Kingdom of God, gathering those interested in further growth into simple discipleship groups in their homes. As these grow and become disciples they are trained as church planters to propagate and train their own gospel workers and plant more simple churches. We have seen this kind of church is very needed in Africa (and most parts of the world) where the simplicity of Christianity has be destroyed by the conventional church.
School as platform:
Our second imprint is with the children. Gathering the children that are not schooling, assessing the needs, finding the orphans, the vulnerable, the hungry and sick and mapping a plan of attack. We are looking for “benevolent volunteers” and people of influence in the village to help. A day care, then pre-school, and then school follows. Our goal is transformation of the children thru an excellent education, adopted Kingdom Values, and a personal relationship with Jesus.
Other complimentary functions cluster around the school as a center of ministry in the village: gardens for orphans and widows, job creation initiatives, health care worker training, etc. In all of these, the participants are also going thru personal discipleship in the simple churches.
Orphan homes are established that care for 6-10 orphans in a home setting, with a trained and loving “mother” who raises the children as her own.
Short term teams
If you want to come for evangelism, simple church planting, service to the orphan and the poor, high adventure in the wild, or any combination of the above this may be for you. You will need to provide your own leader. See JOIN US page for application download and further info.
6 month – 1 year internships
If you want to serve in a specific function or just come and serve for a committed period of time, this may be for you. Missions experience and spiritual maturity are required. See JOIN US page for application download and further info.
Long term missionaries (3 year commitments)
You will be required to go thru 3 month training with ALL NATIONS – either Cape Town SA, or Kansas City, USA, before acceptance into long term mission service. You may come and serve with us for up to 6 months on a trial basis prior to your training if you choose.
Our Values:
In love with Jesus – this is the source of all that is done.
Community – walking in love with one another is just as important.
Holistic – for real transformation to be accomplished we must deal with the whole person – physical, mental, spiritual, social.
Building Church – social institutions come and go. The church will be with these children when they are grown.
Indigenous – missionaries come to serve the national people to take leadership of their society. We will work ourselves out of a job.
Reproducible – build simple = built to multiply.
